About Rob Wilson
“The grand show is eternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never dried all at once; a shower is forever falling; vapor is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls.” John Muir
I’m here to talk to your heart.
The heart that’s longing to be “out there.” Hearing the crunch of your boots on a rock-strewn hiking trail. Feeling the cool freshness of morning dew on leaves and grass. Basking in the increasing warmth of the rising sun.
Taking in the majesty of a mountain. Breathing the sharp air above treeline, as your lungs struggle for more of what they need.
Watching a Bighorn sheep and lamb blend into the cliffside, disappearing before your eyes. Or staring down an elk with a 12-point rack, who’s wondering who you are and what you’re doing in his living room.
Listening to the sweet sound of songbirds voicing their symphonic melodies.
Trying to grasp the endless expanse of wild prairies and their now-rare grasses.
Marveling at the barrenness of jagged sand and clay and rock that shrinks each season, each year, as their hues of gold and red and brown and gray fade into the ground on which they stand.
Rumbling with the sporadic canon-cracks of pounding water that send vibrations through your chest. Meditating on a tumbling cascade that soothes your soul.
The heart that’s overcome by the blues and greens and turquoise of rolling ocean waves with Crayola-rich sunsets.
Whatever it is out there that quickens your pulse, delights your soul, makes you glad to be alive, gives you an itch to get up and go and explore and see and feel for yourself. That’s what I’m after for you.
And for me.
It’s about connecting to the astonishment that is creation. Those places of sanctuary and wonder that come from a mighty and powerful and creative God. Who built “out there” for us - so we could enjoy and take joy in His immense and boundless work.
So stop and look and ponder and wonder and think. Imagine. Dream.
If your heart is hearing “the mountains, the oceans; the forests, plains, canyons or trails; the deserts, glaciers, or wildlife calling to you…and you must go” , then it’s been a good visit.
And we are both better for it.
